    About the Maker Indego Africa

    Indego Africa is a nonprofit organization started in an effort to help empower women in post-genocide Rwanda.

    This product is handcrafted by Burundian and Congelese refugees at the Mahama and Kigeme Refugee Camps in Rwanda. After fleeing violence and conflict, they needed a means to earn a living away from home. Our nonprofit partner Indego Africa equips these women with artisan skills, business education, and steady income so they can build rebuild their lives and be financially independent.

    Indego Africa is additionally a member of the Fair Trade Federation.
